Chariot Of The Harvester finished!

I have finally finished my second Corpse Cart! It is a Chariot Of The Harvester model from Gamezone Miniatures. I must say I am glad this project is behind me. It gave me headaches at times. The thing that was especially annoying was paint constantly chipping away during the painting process as I was handling the model. Also, there was a lot of green stuff-ing involved because there were huge gaps after I assembled the model. All in all I am pleased with the final result and I think this will be a nice addition to my Undead Legion.

Chariot Of The Harvester WIP pt.2

Quick update on the corpse cart. I finished the two banners. I was surprised that I managed to paint them in one afternoon. Next I'm gonna be painting wheels and other the wooden parts.

Chariot Of The Harvester WIP

I have started to work on my second Corpse Cart. This time I am using Gamezone Miniatures Chariot Of The Harvester model.

When I assembled the pile of corpses I was left with huge gaps that needed to be filled with Green Stuff. The only time I encountered such huge gaps on a model was when I bought 6th edition Empire Steam Tank back in the days.

Painting went smooth. I basecoated everything in bone color and then used mostly washes and drybrushing. All in all it went pretty fast and I'm happy how it turned out. Next I'm gonna be painting the banners.

Knights of the Putrid Wind

mournful knights

Housed within the stronghold of Vampire Kain, the Knights of the Putrid Wind represent one of the deadliest Vampire Blood Knight orders of the Old World. Known for their unnatural speed and vampiric strength, they cause terror in enemy ranks of any race. Apart from being the fastest armored cavalry unit within the New Night Order, they are also infamous for spreading unbearable stench on the battlefield. The vampires are mounted on decaying zombie steeds who are animated by the dark necro-magic, also responsible for the putrid stench that leaves the enemies nauseated and incapable of fighting back in full effort. The pale riders are clad in full plate armor and draped in black capes that do their deadly dance in the wind when charge commences.

The leader of the unit, Neghan - the Pale Duke is not your average vampire. Extremely brutal and merciless, he has a habit of decapitating his victims and impaling their heads onto his helm for decoration. When Knights of the Putrid Wind partake in battle, the soil of the battlefield remains dead and infertile for decades, deepening the misery of common man.

The miniatures I've used for this unit are Mournful Knights by Gamezone Miniatures. I always loved the models for they menacing and vicious look but above all, for their poses, they are packed with action. That being said, there is a downside to these old models. The miniatures are metal and there are some gaps that needed to be filled with modeling putty. Also it is sometimes hard to differentiate what is what on the model. Finally, if you are playing WHFB like me, you will struggle to fit all the bases together, side by side. It takes careful planing and positioning of the models to do so. All in all I really like the final result and can't wait to put them on the battlefield!

Mournful Knight #5

Today I finished the last vampire for my Mournful Knights unit (counts as Blood Knights). I'm happy how he turned out. I really dig the pose of the mini. After putting this project aside for a considerable amount time, I'm glad I returned to it and finally completed the unit. Now only thing left is to make some group photos and think of a background story. 🧛

Mournful Knight Musician

I have returned to my Mournful Knights (Blood Knights) after putting them aside for some time. Painting Gamezone Miniatures tends to be a bit exhausting sometimes. As much as I like them it gets really frustrating at times because it's really hard to tell what is what on the miniature. Not once have I painted something on one of their miniatures not knowing what it actually represents. Nonetheless, I have finished the hornblower for the unit. That is now four out of five done. Can't wait to finish the unit and make a group photo.

Expanding the Todtstein Zombie Horde

Lately I've been adding more zombies to the Todstein Zombie Horde. I'm trying out different companies, converting models and adding some oldhammer Games Workshop Zombie models from the early 90's. When I ordered Mournful Knights from the Gamezone Miniatures I received one female zombie model cast in resin as a sample. I think the model is awesome - really gruesome and will add to variety of my zombie troops.

This cool zombie which looks like an undead Empire captain I received from Heresy Lab Miniatures. The model by itself looks great. However it does not fit well with the rest of my unit. The head is way smaller then on the rest of my zombies. Also the model is a bit taller.

I really wanted to add a model from Dunkeldorf Miniatures range to my Undead horde and the best way to do so was to convert one. I converted their Old Tully mini. I swapped his face and arms with those from the old GW zombie kit. I also twisted his legs a bit to get that zombie walk. I call him Willem Deadfoe because the resemblance is great IMO. :D

I did another custom zombie by converting the Reikland Captain from Mordheim warband. I cut of his legs and replaced them with those from the old GW plastic kit. I also swapped his face.

Another simple conversion I did is based on the Mordheim Town Cryer miniature. The only thing I did here was replacing his had with the zombie one.

Finally I added some of the oldhammer zombies from the early 90's. They are a bit smaller but still fit very well with the rest of the unit. I love the Evil Dead vibes on them. :D

Next, I will be adding some zombies from the Forgotten Realms range. Really looking forward to it.

Mournful Knight standard bearer and progress on the unit

Standard bearer for my Mournful Knights (Blood Knights) is done! I'm keeping the same color scheme throughout the unit to make them look a bit uniformed. Lots of black and red and dark metallics. Having completed the third model, out of five, I've noticed there is a problem which is repeating on every model. There is a huge gap between the rider and the horse when I want to glue them together. They just don't fit. On all three models I had to make a ball of Green Stuff to fill the hole and glue them properly. I also pinned the banner to make sure it wont fall off.

I also addressed the issue of fitting the basses together. I had to reposition one of the knights so that I am able to fit them all together. I barely managed to find space for all three. Hopefully I'll manage to somehow squeeze in the remaining two as well.
